The Polytechnic Society Foundation in Frankfurt is one of the largest private foundations in Germany. It was established in 2005 by the Polytechnic Society, which dates back to 1816. Since then, our foundation has been committed to serving the Frankfurt community with dedication and enthusiasm. More than €115 million have been invested in charitable initiatives across education, culture, civic engagement, sustainability, science and technology, vocational training, social affairs, and democracy.
Our programs foster personal development and encourage active community participation. Our goal is to empower people and make our city a better place to live. For 20 years, we have contributed to a vibrant and supportive urban society, true to our motto: "We are building the 'We'."
To celebrate the foundation’s 20th anniversary, we are hosting a festival at Frankfurt’s Opernplatz from September 19–21, 2025. Admission is free, everyone is welcome!
Join us for a weekend of music, dance, and sports. Enjoy performances by Grandbrothers, rapper Ebow, singer-songwriter Julie Kuhl, the Frankfurt Opera Studio, and many more. Food trucks and street food stalls will serve delicious treats at family-friendly prices. Discover hands-on activities and creative workshops for all ages, featuring the Senckenberg Natural History Museum, EXPERIMINTA ScienceCenter, Schirn Kunsthalle, local artists, and the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Frankfurt-Rhein-Main. Together with the Polytechnic Society and its affiliated institutions, the foundation invites visitors to explore its programs.
On the evening of September 19, Frankfurt’s Mayor Mike Josef, our patron, will officially open the anniversary festival at Opernplatz and warmly welcome all visitors. The event is proudly sponsored by Frankfurter Sparkasse 1822, with support from numerous other institutions and companies.
